I’m back! I don’t know about you, but after that bucket list blitz last week I needed some rest from the deep thoughts! But we’re back at it today. After some lively conversation with the Husband last night, I wanted to revisit why did I choose to major in business anyway? I had to write a “personal statement” over 11 years ago in order to get accepted into the business department at Saint Catherine University and thought I’d whip it out for some thinking on the blog.
Ok. So we just completed the bucket list blitz in 5 days!! Yowzah. That was a lot of work! Did you write down some good goals for—
- Day 1: Love, Family & Relationships
- Day 2: Health & Wellness
- Day 3: Money, Career & Serving Others
- Day 4: Travel
- Day 5: Creativity & Learning

Guys! We made it! It’s the final day of our bucket list blitz. PHEW. Have you gotten any new ideas? Have you given any ideas to other people via the comments? THANK YOU for joining in the conversation with me.

You guys! It’s already Day 4 of the Bucket List Blitz challenge. Today’s topic is easy. I’m thinking a lot of people might have bucket list TRAVEL destinations. So I dare you to comment. 🙂
I love traveling! From the age of 14 I began seeing the world going to Latvia to teach English in the summer. Continue reading “What’s on Your Bucket List for Travel?”
It’s bucket list blitz week day 3 and we’re talking about money, career and serving others!
A lot of the goals here deserve a bit of an explanation. As I mentioned in my post about 10 things I love about my Mom…money was never easy growing up so it’s been a big bucket list category for me. My parents worked their butts off! But they always had a lot a lot of debt (umm…hello. They’re farmers!) which caused a lot of stress for my mom especially.
Ok guys. I’m changing up the bucket list schedule because today just felt right to talk about Health & Wellness! WARNING: There’s going to be a lot of swearing in this post. If you’re my mom or perhaps another elderly person you should stop reading now. Josh—here goes Unapologetic Bitch mode. Let’s talk health & wellness on the bucket list. But first, let me get REALLY real with y’all Right. F-ing. Now.
I’m sad to say there’s been another loss. Now at 5 in 5 months. A 30 year old high school classmate passed away after battling brain cancer. She was this beautiful blend of smarts, sass, art, science, sports and a little bit of country love in her. To know her was to totally love her. I feel sad, mad, ashamed—I knew she was sick again but I had no idea how bad.
I’ll be breaking up the “deep questions” posts with profiles of people that I know & love! My intent in doing these profiles is to inspire myself and others by celebrating beautiful human beings and what makes them so fabulous. To share why just KNOWING them will lead you to LOVE them.
Here’s my first profile: Georgine Schottler, my AH-mazing Mom!
Here’s 10 things I know about my mom that makes me love her dearly— Continue reading “I Know Her & I Love Her! – Georgine Schottler”
12 years ago I was in my freshman year at St. Kate’s when I had the privilege of hearing ReBecca Koenig Roloff speak. At the time, ReBecca had recently retired early from her executive job at American Express to lead the YWCA of Minneapolis in their mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. This past year she was named the new President of St. Catherine University. Go Becky!! Anyways, back to the story–I vividly remember Becky saying:
In every job you’ll have a set of 68 problems to solve. The question you have to ask yourself is which set of problems do you want to be yours?
This will be our question for the post: What set of problems are you highly motivated to solve? What problems make your hair stand up? Why?
My name is Shannon and I’m on a journey to figure out who I am. I’ve spent the last 10 years in Corporate America “living the dream.” But wait a second. What is that dream anyway? Had I ever really defined it? Or did I just get on the Corporate America escalator and ride while standing still and not evolving? I just kept getting tapped on the shoulder with people saying: This way to your next job! To more money! To more prestige! To more external validation! But then the day came where they put me in charge of my own destiny saying: Ok! Now YOU get to pick what comes next now in your career! Quite frankly – I FROZE. Continue reading “What’s your purpose?”
